• Beschreibung: Dipotassium nitrosodisulfonate is an antifungal agent that inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the fungal cell membrane. It is used in combination with other antiretroviral medications to treat HIV-infected patients. Dipotassium nitrosodisulfonate binds to ergosterol and prevents its incorporation into the fungal cell membrane. This process also leads to the production of reactive oxygen species, which can damage bacterial DNA and disrupt protein synthesis in both fungi and bacteria. Dipotassium nitrosodisulfonate has been shown to be effective against human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) as well as nevirapine-resistant strains of HIV-1.
