4-(2-[6-(Dioctylamino)-2-naphthalenyl]ethenyl)-1-(3-sulfopropyl)pyridinium inner salt (NPS-L) is a fluorescent probe that binds to P2Y receptors, which are involved in the transmission of pain signals. NPS-L has been shown to bind selectively to cardiac tissue and is not detected in other tissues such as liver, kidney, or lung. This drug can be used for the study of P2Y receptor function in clinical relevance and for the diagnosis of congestive heart failure. 4-(2-[6-(Dioctylamino)-2-naphthalenyl]ethenyl)-1-(3-sulfopropyl)pyridinium inner salt is also a fluorescent probe that emits light at 660 nm when exposed to radiation and has been shown to have an effect on cardiac cells.
