Produktinformation
- Diphenylhydrazine
- Hydrazine, 1,1-diphenyl-
- α,α-Diphenylhydrazine
1,1-Diphenylhydrazine is a phenylhydrazine compound that has been used as a corrosion inhibitor in the petroleum industry. It is also a model system for studying coordination geometry and the kinetics of ligand binding to metal ions. The hydrazine groups are oriented towards the chloride atoms. 1,1-Diphenylhydrazine binds to ruthenium complexes by a 2-coordinate nitrogen nucleophile and formyl group. The coordination geometry of 1,1-diphenylhydrazine is octahedral with two axial N-N distances of 2.52 Å and two equatorial N-Cl distances of 3.08 Å. This compound can be synthesized by reacting silver trifluoromethanesulfonate with formaldehyde and phenylmagnesium bromide.
