Beschreibung

1,1-Dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl)ethene is a chemical compound that inhibits the growth of infectious bacteria. The inhibitory properties are due to the inhibition of bacterial DNA polymerase and RNA synthesis. This compound has been shown to be active against a wide range of microorganisms, including gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, mycobacteria, and fungi. 1,1-Dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl)ethene can be used in vitro to diagnose infectious diseases such as tuberculosis. 1,1-Dichloro-2,2-bis(4-chlorophenyl)ethene has also been shown to have a therapeutic effect on human serum by inhibiting the production of proteins involved in inflammatory responses.
