2,4'-Dihydroxyacetophenone is a substrate molecule that is used in wastewater treatment. It is produced by the oxidation of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which can be found in plants and animals. 2,4'-Dihydroxyacetophenone has been shown to catalyze the conversion of phenols and alcohols.
