Dimethylisobutyramide is a functional molecule that belongs to the group of amides. It has been shown to be active in multigrams, and can be used for the synthesis of other bioactive molecules. Dimethylisobutyramide is synthesized from an organic solvent such as tetramethylurea and dimethylamine. The reaction is catalyzed by a metal ion such as palladium, nickel or copper and a halogen such as chlorine, bromine or iodine. The reaction is performed in an inert atmosphere such as nitrogen or argon with triphosgene or phosphorus oxychloride as the oxidizing agent.
