1,5-Dimethoxy-Pentane is a gemini surfactant that is used as a solvent. It has been shown to have a proton affinity of 0.058 (1H) and a redox potential of -0.06 (1H), which are both higher than those of 1,2-dimethoxyethane and 1,4-dioxane. The chemical stability of 1,5-Dimethoxy-Pentane is also greater than that of 1,2-dimethoxyethane and 1,4-dioxane due to its lower peroxide content. This compound can be used in organic synthesis to study the effects of deuterium isotopes on chemical structures or thermodynamics.
