Diisopropylnaphthalene is a mixture of isomeric hydrocarbons that are used as solvents, pharmaceutical preparations, and as a chemical intermediate. They are commonly found in wastewater treatment plants, industrial preparation, and flow systems. Diisopropylnaphthalene is an aromatic hydrocarbon with a detection time of 3-4 days by GC-MS. It can be analyzed using dispersive solid-phase extraction or liquid chromatography with a UV detector. This chemical has been shown to have an electrochemical data in the range of -0.04 V to -0.10 V vs Ag/AgCl reference electrode at pH 7 and 25 °C (pH 4). The compounds may have matrix effects when used in pharmaceutical preparations because they are glycol esters.
