Beschreibung

All-cis-4,7,10,13,16-docosapentaenoic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid that is found in the liver and other tissues. It has been shown to inhibit malonic acid-induced microsomal lipid peroxidation by binding to the hydroxyl group of malonic acid. All-cis-4,7,10,13,16-docosapentaenoic acid also inhibits bacterial growth and can be used as a dietary supplement for those who have an insufficient intake of this nutrient. This compound has been shown to have a number of pharmacological effects including antihypertensive, hypoglycemic and hypotensive activities. All-cis-4,7,10,13,16-docosapentaenoic acid may also be useful in treating atherosclerosis because it reduces non-HDL cholesterol levels in rats.
