Doxycycline D6 is a quinoline derivative drug used as an antimicrobial agent. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Doxycycline D6 has been shown to be effective against prostate cancer cells, although it is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex. The drug also has ophthalmic uses and is used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and hematopoietic cells. There are some potential drug interactions with doxycycline D6, which may include increased risk of bleeding and decreased effects of anticoagulants. Clinical studies have shown that doxycycline D6 is effective at treating acne, rosacea, and other skin conditions when applied topically or taken orally.
