• Beschreibung: 1,3,2,4-Dioxadithiane 2,2,4,4-tetraoxide (ODTT) is a reactive aromatic hydrocarbon that is used as an anti-cancer drug. ODTT can be synthesized through the reaction of carbon disulphide with aliphatic hydrocarbons in the presence of metal hydroxides. It has potent antitumor activity and binds to DNA by forming covalent bonds with nucleophilic groups on the bases and intercalating between base pairs. The reactive group on ODTT reacts with sulphonates and nitro groups to produce a variety of reaction products. The hydroxy group on ODTT reacts with metal hydroxides to form metal complexes that are more stable in vivo than free ODTT. These metal complexes are then excreted by the kidneys into urine or bile.
