• Beschreibung: Demeton-S-methyl sulfone is a pesticide that is used for the control of insects and mites. It has been found to be an effective insecticide for the control of termites, ants, cockroaches, beetles, and moths. This compound is also used as a soil fumigant for the control of nematodes. Demeton-S-methyl sulfone has been shown to inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in both plasma samples and human serum. It also has antioxidant effects that may protect against lipid peroxidation. The compound can react with amitraz or phoxim to form a new product. The chemical reaction products are not yet well characterized. Demeton-S-methyl sulfone is currently under study in analytical toxicology methods as an alternative method to measure cholinesterase inhibition in blood samples.
