• Beschreibung: Gefitinib is a small-molecule drug that is used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. It is an inhibitor of the protein tyrosine kinase receptor, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Gefitinib also inhibits the activity of enzymes such as glycoprotein IIb/IIIa and serine proteases. The pharmacokinetics of gefitinib have been studied in humans and rats, with a plasma concentration–time curve observed in both species. In humans, gefitinib was found to be eliminated by hepatic metabolism and excreted mainly through urine. In rats, gefitinib was eliminated by both hepatic metabolism and renal excretion. The pharmacokinetics of gefitinib were altered in rats with liver impairment due to sorafenib or high doses of epidermal growth factor (EGF).
