Beschreibung

Desmethyl ranolazine is a prodrug that is hydrolyzed in vivo to the active form, ranolazine. It is used in the treatment of angina pectoris and other cardiovascular diseases. The pharmacokinetics of desmethyl ranolazine has been studied using analytical methods such as chromatography, spectrophotometry, and gas-liquid chromatography. These studies showed that desmethyl ranolazine exhibits linear kinetics with respect to time and dose. Desmethyl ranolazine has also been shown to be an effective anti-arrhythmic agent due to its ability to activate potassium channels on cardiac muscle cells. This drug also inhibits fatty acid synthesis by inhibiting the enzyme dehydrogenase and can be used for sample preparation before analysis by GC-MS or LC-MS/MS.
