Beschreibung

5,6-Diamino-2-hydroxybenzimidazole is a luminescent compound that belongs to the group of naphthol derivatives. It has been found to have anticancer therapeutics and stabilization properties. This compound is manufactured industrially by reacting 2-amino-5,6-dihydroxybenzimidazole with naphthol in the presence of phosphorous pentoxide. 5,6-Diamino-2-hydroxybenzimidazole can be used as a stabilizer for polyacrylamide gels and other industrial applications. The amide bond in this molecule stabilizes the molecule by binding to amino groups on proteins, which prevents the protein from unfolding or denaturing.
