Diazoxide is a drug that belongs to the class of pharmacological agents. It is used as a primary pulmonary hypertension treatment. Diazoxide has been shown to have beneficial effects for bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, due to its antioxidant properties and its ability to inhibit oxidative injury in the gut wall. Diazoxide inhibits channels that are involved in neuronal death, which is associated with stroke-induced brain damage.
