N,N-Dimethylmelamine (DMMEA) is a vinyl ether with emulsifying properties. It has been used as a vulcanizing agent in the production of rubber and to make polymers such as styrene, phenylethylene, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). DMMEA can also be used in the production of sulphonate esters, chlorides and butyric acid. DMMEA reacts with ethylene oxide or oxyethylene to form condensation products such as ethylenediamine or hexamethylenediamine. DMMEA is an intermediate used in the synthesis of peroxide.
