Beschreibung

Tiamulin fumarate is a tetracycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and interfering with protein synthesis. Tiamulin fumarate has been shown to be effective against many bacteria, including Helicobacter pylori, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia trachomatis, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae. It has also been shown to inhibit the development of resistant mutants in vitro. Tiamulin fumarate is not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Staphylococcus aureus. Tiamulin fumarate has been found to have acute toxicities in animals and humans, but these effects are reversible on discontinuation of treatment. The drug can cause drug interactions with other drugs such as erythromycin.
