Trans-1,3-Dichloropropene is an organic compound that is a chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon. It has a chlorine atom in the 1 position and three chlorine atoms in the 3 position. The chemical formula for trans-1,3-Dichloropropene is CCl2CH2CH2Cl. The material can be used as a fumigant, as well as an analytical method to measure kinetic data of reactions with enzymes. Trans-1,3-Dichloropropene inhibits plant growth by binding to the active site of enzymes such as malonic acid oxidase and peroxidase which are involved in plant metabolism.
