• Beschreibung: The isomeric form of a-[4-[2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy]phenyl]-b-ethyl-a-phenylphenethyl alcohol (DMPE) is used in the diagnosis of cancer. The DMPE molecule has two geometric isomers, cis and trans, that can be differentiated by spectrometric analysis. Cis-DMPE has been shown to bind to the estrogen receptor, blocking its activity. This compound also inhibits tumor growth in experimental models of breast cancer and prostate cancer. Trans-DMPE has shown some inhibitory effects against tumor growth as well. It binds to the estrogen receptor with high affinity, but does not block its activity like cis-DMPE does.
