Beschreibung:Dimethyl isophthalate is an organic compound that belongs to the class of phthalates. It is a colorless liquid that has a strong odor and can be used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, and other plastics. Dimethyl isophthalate can be detected in vitro within 12 hours after exposure by bacterial growth on nutrient agar plates supplemented with sodium carbonate. It was found to inhibit bacterial growth by binding to the hydroxyl group of ribose and deoxyribose. This inhibition leads to reduced levels of dibutyltin oxide and polycarboxylic acid subunits, which are important for the formation of cell walls in bacteria.
