Produktinformation
- alpha-Bromo-2-difluoromethoxytoluene
- 1-(Bromomethyl)-2-(Difluoromethoxy)Benzene
2-(Difluoromethoxy)benzyl bromide is a phenytoin analogue that has been shown to have anticonvulsant activity. It acts as an antagonist at the GABA receptor and inhibits neuronal excitability by binding to the benzodiazepine site on the GABA receptor. 2-(Difluoromethoxy)benzyl bromide has been shown to increase seizure threshold in animal models, as well as protect against electroshock-induced seizures. It also displays anti-convulsant effects in mice, rats, and guinea pigs.
2-(Difluoromethoxy)benzyl bromide is not neurotoxic in rats or dogs, but it does produce neurotoxic effects in mice when given at high doses through intraperitoneal injection.
