1,8-Diaminonaphthalene is a nitrite ion that has been used as a structural probe in the study of photochemical properties. The nitrite ion was found to be able to react with 1,4-dihydropyridine and form an adduct. This reaction was shown to have no effect on the triplet state of the 1,4-dihydropyridine molecule and does not cause any change in the photochemical properties of the molecule. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies showed that this compound has a low electron affinity and a high electron mobility. In vitro antifungal activity tests confirmed that 1,8-diaminonaphthalene inhibits fungal growth by interfering with mitochondrial function. The mechanism for this inhibition may be due to the transfer of electrons from nitrogen atoms in 1,8-diaminonaphthalene to intramolecular hydrogen atoms in the mitochondria.br>br>
