Didecyl disulfide is a reactive, hydrochloric acid-soluble compound that contains a sulfonic acid group. It is used as a corrosion inhibitor and has been shown to have reactivity with metal surfaces. Didecyl disulfide has also been found to be an effective particle surface coating for the prevention of corrosion. The molecule consists of two decanethiol groups linked by a disulfide bond. These groups are reactive functional groups that can be used as inhibitors in a variety of chemical reactions.
