Beschreibung:6',7'-Dihydroxybergamottin (DBM) is a natural compound found in grapefruit. DBM inhibits the activity of CYP3A4, which is an enzyme that metabolizes most drugs. The inhibitory properties of DBM are related to its ability to bind to human CYP3A4 and competitively inhibit the metabolism of other drugs. The effects of DBM on CYP3A4 can be monitored by measuring the concentration-time curve for the drug being metabolized. This method has been used to study interactions between DBM and other drugs, such as cyclosporine and tacrolimus.
