• Beschreibung: Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC) is a phospholipid that is found in the plasma membrane. DMPC is composed of one molecule of glycerol, two molecules of fatty acid, and one molecule of choline. It has been shown to be a model system for studying transfer reactions, such as those involved in nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. DMPC can form bilayers with other lipids such as dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPP) and phosphatidylcholine (PC). The phase transition temperature of DMPC has been determined to be about 37°C. This lipid is also a surfactant because it lowers the surface tension between two liquids or between a liquid and a solid.
