(11S,12S)-9,10-Dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-diamine is a chiral molecule that can be used as a catalyst for the asymmetric synthesis of amines. The energies and optimizations of this compound have been studied using DFT calculations. It has been found that acetone is the optimal solvent for the reaction. The reaction mechanism of (11S,12S)-9,10-dihydro-9,10-ethanoanthracene-11,12-diamine is based on bond cleavage and enamine formation. This molecule catalyzes the multistep process to produce an activated amine in one step.
