4-Dimethylaminoethoxybenzaldehyde (DMEOB) is a natural compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic and antibacterial. DMEOB has been found to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes tuberculosis. DMEOB also inhibits the growth of human cancer cells in culture. This drug has shown efficacy in treating various cancers, including breast and prostate cancer. DMEOB is an acidic substance, with a pH of 3.5 at 20°C.
