2,4-Dichlorobenzyl bromide is a synthetic chemical that contains an acetyl group. The acetyl group is attached to the benzene ring through an ether bond. This chemical has been shown to react with chloral hydrate by forming an addition compound, which undergoes hydrolysis to produce 2-chloroacetophenone and benzaldehyde. The reaction of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl bromide with chloride ions produces chloral and 3-bromobenzaldehyde. It has been shown that 2,4-dichlorobenzyl bromide reacts with triazole in a 1:1 ratio to form a new compound, as well as reacting with piperazine in a 1:2 ratio to form another new compound. This product is unreactive towards halides such as chlorine or bromine.
2,4-Dichlorobenzyl bromide does not interact with l6
