• Beschreibung: 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-5-methyl-5-methanol is a metallacycle that is synthesized by hydrolysis of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane. Hydrolysis of the methyl ether leads to formation of the methoxy group at the 2 position. The dioxane ring is opened by reaction with zinc and hydrochloric acid to form the methylene bridge between the two carbon atoms. This compound can be used in elemental analysis and as an intermediate in high yield synthesis of dinuclear complexes. Spectroscopic studies have shown that this compound has a characteristic absorption band at 1053 nm.
