Dimethylbis(phenylethynyl)silane is a bidentate ligand with two phenyl groups. It is used in the synthesis of polymers, e.g., polyphenylenevinylene (PPV). Dimethylbis(phenylethynyl)silane has been shown to be a highly efficient light emitting material that emits photons with a broad range of wavelengths. This compound can be used for the detection of chloride ions and can also be used for high-speed gel permeation chromatography.
