- 3,4-Dichlorothiophene 1,1-dioxide
3,4-Dichlorothiophene 1,1-dioxide (3,4-DCD) is a diazotising agent that converts primary amines to sulfones. It is a colorless solid with a melting point of 118°C and can be synthesised by the thermal treatment of 3,4-dichlorothiophene. 3,4-DCD has been shown to produce paramagnetic resonance and magnetic spectra when in the presence of transition metal ions. It has also been shown to transfer electrons from one molecule to another. 3,4-DCD is an analog of 2,5-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and is used as an intermediate for organic synthesis.
