Beschreibung

2,2-Difluoropropylamine is a colorless, crystallized solid that is soluble in water. It can be used as a strong base and reacts with acids to form salts. When heated 2,2-difluoropropylamine releases hydrogen fluoride gas and calcium hydroxide gas. This chemical also reacts with calcium ions to produce calcium fluoride, which is insoluble in water. The hydration reaction for 2,2-difluoropropylamine is shown below:

H 2 N-C(=O)-F + H 2 O → C(=O)OH + HF

This reaction occurs because the hydrogen atom on the nitrogen molecule has a partial positive charge and therefore attracts the hydrogen ion (H+) from the water molecule to form an ammonium ion (NH 4+). The ammonium ion then combines with the fluorine atom from the 2,2-difluoropropylamine molecule
