Beschreibung

1,2-Dichlorotrifluoroethane is a reactive chemical that reacts with hydrogen fluoride to form the chlorofluorocarbons. It has high reactivity and is used as a stabilizer in chemical reactions. 1,2-Dichlorotrifluoroethane also reacts with chloride nucleophiles to form the chlorofluorocarbons. The activation energy of this reaction is 34.1 kcal/mol. The reaction mechanism for this process is nucleophilic attack by the chloride ion on the carbon atom of 1,2-dichlorotrifluoroethane. In rat liver microsomes and human liver, 1,2-dichlorotrifluoroethane has been shown to be metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to produce several reactive metabolites (e.g., trichloroacetic acid).
