It also binds to the nitrogen atoms in guanine, which blocks the activity of phosphorodichloridate, an enzyme that cleaves DNA at the phosphate bonds. Ethyl dichlorophosphate has been shown to inhibit inflammation and protect against oxidative stress in human cells.
