Beschreibung

6-Ethoxy-2-mercaptobenzothiazole is a potent compound that has been used as an emulsifying agent, a 2-mercaptobenzoxazole and thiosulfate cyclic ammonium salt. It is also used in the form of microcapsules to inhibit protein synthesis by interfering with amine transfer reactions and by inhibiting phosphonates. 6-Ethoxy-2-mercaptobenzothiazole also inhibits lipoprotein metabolism by binding to amines on the surface of lipoproteins and transferring them to other molecules. This leads to the accumulation of cholesterol in the liver, which can lead to atherosclerosis.
