Beschreibung

Ethyl 3-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-oxopropanoate is an active form of a quinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the DNA gyrase enzyme. It also has chemiluminescence activity and is able to inhibit the proliferation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes, which are white blood cells that defend the body against infection. Ethyl 3-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-oxopropanoate is used to treat bacterial infections such as tuberculosis and other respiratory tract infections. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit in bacteria. This drug has been shown to be effective against some strains of Mycobacterium avium complex and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, but not against Pseudomonas aeruginosa or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
