• Beschreibung: 1-(4-Ethylphenyl)methanamine (1-EPHM) is an antiviral agent that has broad-spectrum activity against a wide range of viruses. It is active against the virus family of arenaviruses, which includes Lassa fever and Machupo virus. 1-EPHM inhibits the growth of these viruses by interfering with their RNA replication process. This small molecule also has antiviral activities against HIV, influenza A, and hepatitis C virus. 1-EPHM binds to the enzyme polymerase and prevents it from binding to nucleic acids. The compound also modifies the conformation of the protein VPg at high concentrations, which leads to inhibition of viral replication in cells.
