Ethyl (1R,2S)-2-aminocyclopentanecarboxylate is a substrate for enantioselective esterification and etherification reactions. It can be used as an enantiomerically pure raw material for the production of chiral pharmaceuticals. This compound is also a substrate for lipase-catalyzed synthesis of butanoic acid derivatives. The tert-butyl methyl ether derivative has been shown to inhibit Pseudomonas aeruginosa growth in vitro and in vivo.
