2-Ethyl-6-methylaniline is an organic chemical with a molecular formula of C8H12N2. It has a linear structure, consisting of an ethyl group attached to a methyl group attached to an amine group. The terminal amine group is the site for the attachment of other molecules. 2-Ethyl-6-methylaniline is used in the production of phenol and acetone. In vitro tests have shown that this compound has genotoxic effects. It also inhibits some enzymes, such as the enzyme activities found in human liver cells. The hydrochloric acid used in these reactions may cause skin irritation or burns on contact with skin and eyes.
