3-Ethoxy-1-propanol (3EP) is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organic compounds known as ethers. It is a colorless liquid with an ethereal odor and has a boiling point of 118°C. 3EP is used in chemical analyses for the determination of malic acid, as well as for the identification of fatty acids in diethyl succinate and ethyl decanoate. 3EP also reacts with ethyl formate to produce diethyl succinate and ethyl decanoate. 3EP has been used in kinetic studies on urine samples for determining fatty acids, including isovaleric acid.
