Beschreibung

Endrin is a chlorinated hydrocarbon that has been shown to have an estrogenic effect in animals. It is considered to be a possible human carcinogen, and is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). Endrin has been detected in the environment, wildlife, and humans. The use of endrin as a pesticide has been discontinued in the United States. When administered to rats, endrin causes toxic effects on the liver and ovaries. Effects were observed at doses below those that would cause death. The biological studies showed that uptake was higher when administered orally than when applied topically or injected intravenously. Endrin is stable under dry conditions but decomposes readily in moist environments.
