1,2-Ethanedisulfonic acid dihydrate (EDDS) is a sulfonic acid that is used as a reagent for the synthesis of organic compounds. The crystal structure of EDDS has been analyzed by X-ray diffraction and found to contain a carbonyl group, which is responsible for the stability of the compound.
