Beschreibung:
1,2-Ethanediyl bismethanethiosulfonate is a conformational analog of the drug sildenafil that is being investigated as a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction. 1,2-Ethanediyl bismethanethiosulfonate interacts with the histone deacetylase (HDAC) enzyme in a manner that prevents the association of HDAC with its targets, including histones and other proteins. This leads to an increase in histone acetylation levels and an inhibition of transcription. 1,2-Ethanediyl bismethanethiosulfonate has been shown to be effective against some bacterial strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The compound has also been shown to have cytotoxic properties and strong antigenicity against human cells.
