6-Ethoxy-2-methylquinoline is a hepatoprotective compound that has been shown to have an antioxidant effect. 6-Ethoxy-2-methylquinoline has demonstrated activity against Trichophyton rubrum, a fungus that causes ringworm. The compound has also been shown to be active against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. 6-Ethoxy-2-methylquinoline is structurally similar to 2,6-dimethylaniline, which is oxidized by trifluoroacetic acid to form aromatic compounds such as phenols, cresols, and acetophenones. These oxidation products are bactericidal at concentrations of 1x10 M.
