Ethyl 2,3-epoxypropanoate is a reactive chemical that is synthesized by the reaction of sodium sulfide and sodium salts in the presence of cationic polymerization. It has been shown to have antibacterial activity against bacterial strains such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Ethyl 2,3-epoxypropanoate inhibits fatty acid biosynthesis by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines and lipid biosynthesis. The compound also exhibits antioxidant effects on cells that are exposed to oxidative stress.
