Ethyl acetamidocyanoacetate has been shown to inhibit serine protease, one of the most abundant enzymes in the human body. This inhibition causes a decrease in inflammatory diseases caused by these enzymes. Ethyl acetamidocyanoacetate also has analog properties that can be used for solid-phase synthesis.
