3-Ethoxycarbonyl)-propyl]-triphenylphosphonium bromide is a basic compound that belongs to the class of compounds with a basic group. It has a basic structure, which consists of one hydroxy group, one hydroxyl group and one n-methyl-d-aspartic acid residue. 3-Ethoxycarbonyl)-propyl]-triphenylphosphonium bromide is used for treatment of prostate hyperplasia. The drug inhibits the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone by competitive inhibition. This may be due to its ability to reduce the activity of 5α-reductase and block the conversion to dihydrotestosterone in prostatic cells. 3-Ethoxycarbonyl)-propyl]-triphenylphosphonium bromide also has halogeno, nitro, cyclohexane ring, fluorine and carboxy groups that can react with other substances
