This compound has been used in vivo to show that it can inhibit the growth of bacteria by interfering with DNA synthesis. 2-Ethylhexyl 4-dimethylaminobenzoate is also used as a sunscreen and provides protection against UV radiation by absorbing light at wavelengths between 280 and 320 nm.
