2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxychromen-4-one is a compound that has been shown to have renal protective effects. It binds to the Bcl-2 protein and prevents it from inhibiting apoptosis. This inhibits the activation of δ receptors, which are responsible for regulating insulin sensitivity in the kidney. The antihyperglycemic effect of this compound is demonstrated by its ability to inhibit glucose uptake in adipocytes and hepatocytes. 2-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxychromen-4-one also has an antifibrotic effect and can be used as a drug for brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. This compound binds to dna and inhibits cell cycle progression by inhibiting the action of topoisomerase II. Drug interactions
